Animated Atlas

From the Treasure Trove
This is another pass along. One of our homeschool moms sent this resource out to our group. It is an animated atlas of American History. Definitely worth taking a look. Growth of a Nation is a free, ten minute movie and has an interactive timeline. There is information under the Teachers' Guide tab for use in school or at home. A great learning tool especially for those who are more of a visual learner. There are additional resources available on the CD-ROM version (that is for sale). Check it out ~ here!

Reminder ~ have you taken a look yet at Globalmania? I thought I would share one of the links that is included in the Globalmania material ~ Map Puzzles - U.S. and World. I have to tell you this can get addictive, but it is fun, even for adults. So, if you want to learn some geography, or brush up a bit, give it a try.

Geography Freebies & Just For Fun!

If you have been homeschooling your children very long you probably have already heard of Knowledge Quest. They offer some wonderful resources for geography. I just finished looking at their Map Trek: v3 New World. Since we will be covering U.S. History next year I thought it would be a great learning tool to add. I will probably pick up the Map Trek: v4 Modern World also, since our curriculum will cover from the New World until current history. They have a great freebie available that I think you would enjoy called Globalmania (Master World Geography in just 7 months). It includes lots and lots of resource links, maps, and weekly guidance for studying geography. It is available along with two other freebies ~ What Really Happened..., and the Huge Map Trek Sampler Pack ~ when you sign up for their newsletter. Take a look and enjoy.

Just for Fun! You might want to take a look at their current Featured Article of the Month also. Although St Patrick's Day has passed there is still some great information and links available in this article. Here is one of the links ~ Make Flubber. What kid would not enjoy making this? HAVE FUN!

From the Treasure Trove

I have decided to share things that I come across that I think would be helpful or minister to those who drop by.  I have decided to call this From the Treasure Trove and will include a variety of things ~ articles, activities, links or whatever I deem a nugget of treasure that could be helpful. Today I would like to share a link to an archive from the Gateway To Joy broadcast series. I found this on the sidebar of one of the blogs I read. I will pass it along. It is titled Do the Next Thing. It seems we women can get bogged down so many times by all the demands on us. This article offers a simple note of encouragement. So if you are feeling overwhelmed a bit or a lot ~ I hope you will find it a nugget of encouragement. Have a wonderful day and simply do the next thing.
