Decisions, decisions! I've pulled out my gardening magazines and books and have been browsing through them, reading articles and building anticipation over all the possibilities, but past failures rear their head and caution me. The one and only time we had a garden turned out to be a flop. I have in the past tried to grow a few things in containers with little success. I also tried to use the square foot gardening method one year ~ also with little success. I don't seem to have a green thumb! My husband has mentioned the Farmer's Market more than once as the solution to my gardening failures.
He is right ~ the Farmer's Market is a good place to find much of what we would like. I don't want to give up and not grow anything though. I'm thinking ~
what about a combination of the two? After reading others thoughts on the topic, I have decided to try again, and start small. I am going to use the square foot gardening method again and see what happens. Adding things year after year as you learn to grow a few things successfully seems to be the recommended way to go. Time will tell.
Again, decisions, decisions! Looking through the magazines at all that is available makes it difficult to narrow it down to a few things. I haven't decided yet what to grow. I did request a catalog, that has heirloom seeds available in a large variety, from
Seed Saver's Exchange. I am eagerly awaiting its arrival.
If you have any tips on how to turn my thumb green ~ please feel free to share!
