Our Help Comes From!

This was from my Bible reading this morning. A reminder of where our help truly comes from. You can read the background if you want. Ezra and those who went with him were headed from Babylon back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple.

Ezra 8

21Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

31 Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

32 And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

Blessings!

Thinking On....

Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,

whatsoever things are honest

 whatsoever things are just,

whatsoever things are pure,

whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report;

if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,

think on these things.

Busy Days!

It is quiet in my house at the moment. The babies have gone for the day ( I had both grandbabies today). My sister, her two daughters, and my parents came to visit and help with the babies. This will be the last week that I will be keeping Ruth. Her mother will be finished with her teaching position at the end of the week. Come fall she will only substitute teach so she can be home most of the time with her little one. Zoe will get to stay a couple of days a week with me in the summer. We will see come fall what the schedule will be. Keeping kids as gramma is not like keeping kids at twenty or thirty! I forgot how much work little ones are. It is a blessed time though and I am thoroughly enjoying it (well at least most of it).

Last week my husband and I spent some time away for our anniversary. If you can find time to get away with your beloved do it, do it, do it! We had such a good time.

As a random side note - As I type this I keep looking up from the keyboard and see a field of tall grass and trees on sloping hills. The evening shadows are visible as the sun begins to set. It is so peaceful. A serene picture that provokes a sense of calm. And yet there is a longing for something......I have so many thoughts. The front porch swing is beckoning me....goodbye for now!
