God of the Details

I woke up early this morning and could not go back to sleep. I found myself remembering things from many years ago. Memories from when I spent the summer in Scio, New York as a student summer missionary. I have lots of fond memories from that time. Another female student missionary and I stayed with a preacher and his family that summer. We were involved in doing Back Yard Bible Clubs and evangelism.

One of the BYBC was held in the backyard of a sweet, little, elderly lady. One day while we were at her home she wanted to give each of us a rag rug. So she placed two rugs before us, the other missionary student and myself, to choose from. I immediately was taken with the colors in one of the rugs but knew in my heart that the right thing would be to defer to my missionary friend to choose first. So, I did and she did. She chose ~ the other one! I was so grateful. God used that memory this morning to remind me that He cares about the details of my life and heart. Even down to a little rag rug. Though I cannot recall what she looked like, I still remember a sweet, Christian lady who wanted to share what she could with us. I kept that rug and after I married we enjoyed that rug for years.

Later this morning, during my quiet time, I read these words: "The Lord's purpose was to reveal that God is not merely a transcendent force somewhere in the universe but a loving, personal, heavenly Father who is profoundly interested in the details of our lives" ~ (from Living The Extraordinary Life by Charles Stanley). Even now, a Bible study that we had at our church last year comes to mind. We were reminded that God is in the details.

God truly does care about the details of our lives.

A Scripture passage for thought ~ Genesis 13:8-18.

You're so right.

I enjoy Charles Stanley very much.

Do you like Lucado and Rick Warren?

PJ, I have read several of Max Lucado's books and enjoyed them. I think I have only read one of Mr. Warren's books, though I understand that he is very popular.

What a sweet reminder! So thankful He indeed is a personal God, and cares for the little details of life!
