Outside my window...the sun has risen and is shining brightly! The birds are singing.
(If you would rather not read anything political today feel free to skip down to I am thankful...)
I am thinking...about all the "health care" talk. My husband and I sat on the couch last night and read some of the things in the health care bill. Personally I believe the government has overstepped its bounds and is not acting responsibly in its role of government of the people, by the people, for the people.
From the part of the health care that I have read so far I cannot understand how our leaders see much of this as a good choice ~ force ~ seems to be more truth than choice. It almost seems like it will just cause a domino effect ~ you try to fix one thing but it messes up the next. SIGH - there are no easy answers.
There are some things that I did think were good and would be acceptable by most people. What I don't believe is healthy for our nation is more hand outs ~ welfare. We certainly need to help care for people who cannot take care of themselves or need help ~ the elderly, the truly disabled, those who truly cannot find work for periods of time, and those who truly need assistance. Shame on us as a people if we don't. I know I digress from health care alone here but when it comes to able bodied people who just won't work, I have no problem implementing this scripture verse: "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat" ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Really, if you can avoid having all that red tape and a two thousand page document to do it (because there goes all the money for the project), why can't we be sensible and provide a source of productive work for people instead of welfare? If you can use the money for one, can't you use it for the other? I know I'm simple minded. I suppose it is easier to hand something to someone than to truly help them. Especially if you are not using your own money ~ the government takes from the people to give to the people. How do people ever see their worth and become productive citizens if they are not taught and given the opportunity. We've all heard the proverb: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime". Is this not a simple truth? Yet people complicate it. I am aware that many may not want to learn ~ thus the verse mentioned above ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:10. Just thinking, why add more welfare (in the form of health care) to an already failing system? Like I said earlier ~ there are no easy answers.
By the way ~ there is more going on in life than health care reform!
I am thankful...that the sun is shining brightly!
I am remembering...not much.
I am going...to take care of daily things.
I am reading...my Bible and various other things.
I am hoping...in Christ.
Noticing that...it is very quiet and peaceful around here right now.
Pondering...this verse again: "With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness." Isaiah 26:9
I keep thinking about this. What is it going to take?
What is going to be God's response? Would you agree our world needs to learn righteousness?

From the kitchen...my mother-in-law and father-in-law are bringing barbecue for supper.
One of my favorite things...HOPE ~ and God's children have it. Be of good cheer ~ Jesus has overcome the world.

Thanks for visiting my daybook.
We're hoping the good weather holds out for our yard sale! Your fabric is lovely. I don't quilt, but my daughter does. Good luck on a pattern~
I think you are right about healthcare ... there are no easy answers.
I love all the scripture you use on your blog! Thanks for stopping by my blog ... I hope you'll come by again.
Such a lovely blog, and so many thoughts about healthcare that I agree with you about. My heart continues to be heavy with it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I don't know much about the US's health reform, but I do know that in our country (South Africa) they're trying to make a National Health Insurance - and it just spells disaster for most. Good luck with all the 'going ons' there.
Glad the sun is shining your way!
You're darn right! And I absolutely agree about the righteousness!
That was great! And the verses of the Lord were the icing. Thank you for the reply on the taking a break from blogging post I really appreciate that alot. The jewellery people who are supposed to be my friends rarely answer. But the ones who seem to care are those that follow HIM! heck people are busy but well thank you for the reply ox...
I agree with you on the health care issue. Your fabric is very pretty! I can't wait to see what you make with it. Karen
