The Simple Woman's Daybook

The Simple
Woman\

FOR...April 20, 2010

Outside my window...the sun is rising, the birds are singing, and there is a feeling of peacefulness. The temperatures dropped here yesterday, and since it is chilly inside the house this morning, I think it must be chilly outside.

I am thinking...about what all I need to accomplish today.

I am thankful...for a flexible schedule.

I am remembering...the movie my family and I watched together Saturday night ~ Amish Grace. It was a good movie. It is based on the shooting that happened in Lancaster at the school house several years ago. I am not sure how closely the movie actually comes to the real story but it had some very good lessons ~ forgiveness being the biggest. I especially liked the part where one of the mothers acknowledged that as the anger would rise in her heart she would give it to God, but it was not a one time, all emotions and feelings over thing. Sometimes she would have to do this every hour as the anger surged through her again. Also, one of the elder gentlemen said that their forgiveness did not excuse the offense but it allowed them to not have to seek retribution but to leave the matter in the hands of God. Isn't that the best place considering He sees the hearts and motives of everyone.

I am going...to work on taking care of that list of things I already mentioned.

I am reading...study materials used with the book of John and my Bible.

Noticing that...looking at life from God's perspective can sure bring peace and acceptance. Sometimes the emotions still want to waver but there is an underlying peace knowing that we are in God's will and He has "got our backs".

Pondering...little right now. I am actually glad when I am not pondering at times, because my mind works way overtime most of the time.

From the kitchen...it will be an easy day. Our youngest son and I will be the only two here for lunch. I already have salad prepared in the fridge and some chicken salad. We had poppy seed chicken last night and I usually prepare extra chicken at the same time and fix chicken salad for the next day's lunch. So easy.

I would also like to prepare Carrie's overnight roll recipe. I will have to see what I can get done.

One of my favorite things...keeping it simple.

It would be so nice to walk along that shore, alone. That is what I like to do at the beach. Get up before anyone else, watch the sunrise. I am not a morning person but I can do it for this rare experience.
I enjoyed reading your daybook.

I just started the Daybook yesterday from another post of one of my new blogging friends and I saw yours too. The Amish movie sounds intriguing. What a fun way to express yourself in this Daybook experience.

I think these are fun posts. I enjoyed reading yours. Won't it be neat to look back on in years to come? The LORD is a wonderful God and we are blessed that we can rest in HIM...I so related to your comment along those lines. AND the picture at the bottom of the post is GORGEOUS! Is it near your home??

Blessings,
